摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a semiconductor device for video signal processing and its control method which can precisely detect a noise level for a video signal superimposed with sudden external disturbance, and provide a high noise-suppression effect. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the semiconductor device for video signal processing and its control method. The device is provided with a line correlation circuit 12 and a field correlation circuit 13 which compare an amount of noise calculated from two different lines of an image signal 17, and generates a noise correlation signal 14 which shows that those differences are larger than a predetermined value; a control circuit 16 which determines a S/N detection line which performs noise extraction based on the noise correlation signal 14, and generates an S/N detection pulse 21 with a predetermined pulse width; and an S/N detection circuit 11 which extracts the noise of the video signal 17 based on the S/N detection pulse 21, and outputs an S/N signal 22.
