PASSENGER CONVEYOR AND ITS BRAKING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor equipped with a dual system brake device of simple constitution involving no risk of enlarging the installation area. SOLUTION: The brake device 18 of this passenger conveyor 1 is composed of an electromagnetic disk brake 19 having a rotary disk 24 with its side pressed by pressing shoes 25 and 26 and securing the pressing forces of the shoes 25 and 26 by giving a spring force so as to release the pressing forces by the electromagnetic force and an electromagnetic band brake 20 having a band 33 to tie fast the peripheral surface of the rotary disk 24 and securing the tying force of the band 33 by a means to give a spring force so as to release the tying force by an electromagnetic force exerted by an electromagnetic force generating means 39.
