An arrangement for the rapid deactivation of radioactive materials comprises a capacitor (1) connected to a controllable generator (6) for electromagnetic oscillations. The capacitor contains ferrite as the dielectric, and is cylindrical. The capacitor mantle surfaces are curved to form a horse shoe shape. The primary and secondary coating/mantle of the capacitor are connected to the generator.
