<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wastewater treatment apparatus capable of reducing surplus sludge and improving water treatment efficiency, and a magnetic separation apparatus capable of efficiently separating magnetic powder-containing activated sludge by effectively introducing a magnetic separation method. <P>SOLUTION: The wastewater treatment apparatus has an aerobic treatment tank for treating water with the magnetic powder-containing activated sludge, a magnetic separation means for separating the magnetic powder-containing activated sludge in activated sludge slurry flowing out from the aerobic treatment tank, a passage for returning the magnetic powder-containing activated sludge separated by the magnetic separation means to the upstream side of the aerobic treatment tank, a solid-liquid separation means for separating the magnetic powder-containing activated sludge remaining in the activated sludge slurry flowing out from the magnetic separation means, a passage for drawing out treated water separated from the magnetic powder-containing activated sludge by the solid-liquid separation means, a passage for returning the magnetic powder-containing activated sludge separated by the solid-liquid separation means to the aerobic treatment tank, and a means for performing the solubilization treatment and volume reduction treatment of the magnetic powder-containing activated sludge in the above passage.
