<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a business form OCR program, method and device which has high recognition rate of blank column of business forms. <P>SOLUTION: A business form OCR program has a computer carry out the OCR processing of a business form, in which a plurality of items are arranged. The business form OCR program reads out a desired first item name from item definition data in which item names are defined beforehand. By checking the first item name with a recognition character recognized from the business form image, a first item name frame is specified, and then the position of a blank column, corresponding to the specified item name frame, is specified. In specifying the first item name frame, if there are no recognition characters corresponding to the first item name, a second item name frame of a second item name is specified by checking a recognition character corresponding to the second item name different from the first item name, and the first item name frame is estimated from the position of the specified second item name frame, based on the relative position information of a plurality of item names defined beforehand. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
