<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply an electronic device such as a note PC with driving power without losses in such a way as to keep its convenience from deteriorating. <P>SOLUTION: Upon the operation of a power switch 11 while the device is shut down, an EC 27 detects whether a keyboard on a main body is covered (closed) by an LCD 5 or exposed (open). When it is detected to be closed, the EC 27 detects whether a power circuit 28 is being supplied with external power, and if it detects that the circuit is being supplied with external power, the operation of the power switch 11 is made valid to shift the system state of the note PC into an operating state.
