PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bicycle having a pedal mechanism with two kinds of operational systems. SOLUTION: A pedal mechanism has a rotary shaft structure comprising a rotary shaft 3 comprising a body 31, shaft rods 32 and 33 extending along the axial direction and provided on both ends of the body 31, a wedge-shaped part 323 formed on an outer edge part of the shaft rod 32, a stopper 34 arranged on a free end of the shaft rod 32, a crank 7 arranged on the other shaft rod 33, a first spring 4 which is attached to the body 31 of the rotary shaft 3 with one end fixed to the body 31 of the rotary shaft 3 and the other end forming an annular body, a first sleeve 1 having a hollow body 11 and a wedge-shaped part 12 protruded into an inner edge part of the body 11, and a second spring 5 which is attached to a part of the shaft rod 32 between the other end of the wedge-shaped part 12 and the stopper 34, and a braking unit 9 having an insertion rod 95 to be inserted in a rotary shaft tubular body 61 and a steering member 91 to control the insertion of the insertion rod 95.
