PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a optical fiber ribbon which enables a plurality of optical fibers to be surely integrated and, at the same time, facilitates the branching of them, and to provide a manufacture method of the coated optical fiber ribbon. SOLUTION: A plurality of optical fibers 11 and 11A are arranged side by side and are integrated by using sheaths 12 and 12A around the optical fibers 11 and 11A. In such a case, the sheaths 12 and 12A are disposed over whole length of the optical fiber ribbons 10 and 10A and, recessed parts 16 and 16A are disposed between the adjacent optical fibers 11 and 11A of the sheaths 12 and 12A. At the same time, the maximum of the thickness of the optical fiber ribbon is made to be the value 40μm larger than the outer diameter of the optical fiber or less. Thereby, the branching of the optical fibers 11 and 11A from the integrated optical fiber ribbons 10 and 10A is easily performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
