PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably clean and to achieve a long life, high picture quality and a low running cost even under severe conditions for cleaning property because a small size toner with high sphericity is used. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor drum 2 in the apparatus is subjected to a hardness test using a Vickers square-based pyramid diamond indenter in an environment at 25°C and 50% humidity and the drum shows 150 N/mm<SP>2</SP>to 220 N/mm<SP>2</SP>HU under 6 mN maximum load and shows 40% to 65% elastic deformation We. The toner used has 4.0 to 7.0μm weight average particle diameter and 0.950 to 0.990 average circularity. The cleaning apparatus is composed of a blade 8a to clean over the photoreceptor drum 2, and a supporting member 8c to press the blade 8a to the photoreceptor drum 2.
