PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preform holding device capable of stably holding a primarily molded preform by a simple mechanism without causing deformation and capable of contributing to the compactification and weight reduction of an apparatus. SOLUTION: This preform holding device is constituted of a cylindrical case (2), a holding member (3) formed by combining a plurality of vertically divided dividing pawl pieces (3a) and (3b) in an expansible manner and inserted in and held to the cylindrical case (2) at its leading end part and a means (4) for operating the dividing pawl pieces (3a) and (3b) so as to expand them. The respective dividing pawl pieces (3a) and (3b) are brought into contact with the inner periphery of the mouth part of the preform by expansion force caused in a state that the protruded part (30) of the holding member (3) is inserted in the mouth part (P1) of the preform (P) to hold the preform from the inside.
