The device has a storage unit for storing a regulating program and data including a profile of a selected network component. A network constitution editor (33) of the program checks whether the component is adaptable to the network based on the profile. A parameter editor (35) of the program edits a parameter of the component when the component is adaptable to the network, and the component is then added to the network. An independent claim is also included for a method of adjusting a control system.
