OPTICAL CLOCK EXTRACTING APPARATUS AND OPTICAL CLOCK EXTRACTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical clock extracting apparatus which generates an optical clock signal synchronizing with a phase of an input data signal and having a uniformized amplitude by inputting an optical data signal with an amplitude jitter and a temporal jitter added thereto.

SOLUTION: The optical clock extracting apparatus is equipped with: a Mach-Zehnder interferometer which produces phase modulation on signals by distributing an outputted optical clock signal and an outputted optical data signal into two optical paths and inputting them into two semiconductor optical amplifiers respectively and makes the optical signals on the two optical paths interfere with each other; an error signal generating circuit which generates an error signal by comparing the signal outputted from the Mach-Zehnder interferometer and the optical data signal with each other; and an optical clock oscillator which outputs an optical clock signal of which the oscillation frequency is controlled with the error signal outputted from the error signal generating circuit.
