DEVELOPMENT METHOD AND TONER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development method for preventing contamination of a developing roller when magnetic single component toner is used for a developing system having a plurality of developing rollers integrally disposed in proximity.

SOLUTION: The development method is carried out by toner carried by a plurality of developing rollers including a first developing roller and a second developing roller in such a manner that the first developing roller and the second developing roller are disposed in a noncontact position to each other but the toner carried by the first developing roller can be passed to the second developing roller. The toner contains: toner particles containing a magnetic material; silica having <19 nm particle size; and inorganic fine powder having the size of ≥19 nm and <100 nm. The total amount of the silica and the inorganic fine powder is ≥0.4 part by mass based on 100 parts by mass of the toner particles, and the weight ratio (II)/(I) of the inorganic fine powder (II) to the silica (I) is ≤0.6.
