<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily generate musical performance control data for a better musical performance when the musical performance control data are converted between different formats. <P>SOLUTION: A timbre specification data extraction part 203 extracts timbre specification data included in SMF data. An alternative timbre specification data generation part 205 generates as alternative timbre specification data generated by allocating alternative timbres to a plurality of timbres indicated by the timbre specification data extracted by the timbre specification data extraction part 203 according to condition data supplied from a condition data supply part 204.
