<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor capable of reducing the time required for a system to reboot in the event of a hardware failure. <P>SOLUTION: POST time is measured. The measured POST time plus a predetermined margin is set as the timeout time of a watchdog timer 12 for the next system startup. The capacity of a main memory 6 is checked at each system startup. The timeout time that matches the memory capacity checked is set in the watchdog timer 12. This enables setting the timeout time that is neither excessive nor deficient most of the time to suit the hardware configuration, allowing a significant reduction in the restart time of the system in the event of a hardware failure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
