PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy saving light scattering type oil mist detector capable of surely detecting oil mist, even in an environment where there are more oil splashes and pours on in large quantities, without using a suction mechanism having electrical or mechanical power. SOLUTION: The oil mist detector is constituted so that at least a part of a wall body 62 for forming an oil mist inlet chamber 61 is constituted of an inner wall 63 and an outer wall 64, both of which are arranged so as to provide a gap 65, while through-holes 7 and 8 are provided at mutually different positions of the inner and outer walls 63 and 64, and the oil mist is introduced into the oil mist inlet chamber 61 via the through-holes 7 and 8 and the gap 65 between the inner and outer walls.
