PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it takes time to discharge electric charges accumulated in a printing head. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus has a switch means for blocking power supply to the printing head from a power supply means, a detecting means for detecting replacement of the printing head, and a control means for outputting a blocking instruction for the switch means to block the power supply and a driving instruction for a driving control means to drive a heating element. When the detecting means detects the replacement of the printing head, the control means outputs the blocking instruction and the driving instruction to have the electric charges of a capacitor consumed.
