PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curtain coating method and curtain coating apparatus for falling a curtain 10 composed of a liquid film having two or more layers, and coating the surface of a running plate 11 with the film of two or more layers, in which curtain portions fallen from the outsides of both ends of the plate width are reused at the maximum, and at the same time, the cutoff amount by the trim of the plate is minimized. SOLUTION: The curtain coating method and apparatus are provided, in which the width of at least a layer of the liquid film constituting the falling curtain 10 is narrower than the full width of the curtain, the full width 32 of the curtain in a coating section is wider than the width 34 of the traveling plate, and the curtains falling outside both ends of the plate width are recovered separately at the width end side of the curtain and the end side of the plate. The width 33 of the layer (narrow-width layer) having a narrower width than the full width of the curtain is wider than the width 34 of the plate, and a separating position 12 separately recovering at the width end side of the curtain 10 and at the end side of the plate is in the vicinity of a width end portion 24 of the narrow-width layer.
