<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of temporary recovery and discharge of a temporary recovering unit for a developer sticking onto an image carrier after a toner image is transferred onto a transfer medium so that the discharge of the developer is efficiently performed in spite of use of a brush having high efficiency of recovering a trasnsfer residue toner and that the brush maintains its performance for a long period. <P>SOLUTION: The temporary recovering unit is provided with a brush member in which the developer temporary recovering unit abutting on the image carrier is freely rotatably held and a sheet member for adjusting the fiber length at which the fibers of the brush member abut on the image carrier within the brush. The sheet member has such a mechanism that an amount of holding the developer of the brush member is adjustable. Also, the configuration, in which the amount of holding of the residues of the developer etc., within the brush member has a relation of the amount of holding during recovering > during discharging and the fiber length of the portion abutting on the image carrier changes short during recovering and long during discharging, is employed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
