<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a device such as portable digital AV equipment using a plurality of attachable/detachable storage media that it is difficult to specify a storage medium recording data. <P>SOLUTION: This device comprises a designation means 140 capable of designating one or more of designating storage medium installation means 110 and 111 with a simple operation. When the storage medium installation means 110 or 111 is designated by the designation means 140, the name of data recorded in a storage medium 200 or 201 installed to the designated storage medium installation means is reported by use of a data record stored in a data name storage area 120 by a reporting means 160.
