<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode, an X-ray generating device, in which compactness can be easily realized, and to provide an X-ray generation method. <P>SOLUTION: A negative electrode 2, having an emitter 5 made of multi-layer carbon nanotubes 12 and a Cu target 3 which generates X-rays 7, when electrons 6 emitted from the emitter 5 of the negative electrode 2 collide with it are provided.
