PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique with which it is able to execute trapping process upon an image that is printed by multicolor printing, timely as needed. SOLUTION: In trapping process relating to the present invention, when the over-print attribute of an object is "OP=false (knock out)" or when the over-print attribute of an object is "OP=true, OPM=0 (to perform "knock out" only for the plate color specifying the color of the object and to perform "over-printing" for the other plate colors), and when a plate color specifying the color of the object is included in plate colors that appear in a relative figure having a lower position order, trapping process is executed at least between the object and the relative figure. This enables to execute trapping process only when there is the danger that a gap occurs in a boundary portion, so that trapping process can be realized as needed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
