PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the convention of a security policy, etc., in a client device at a comparatively low cost. SOLUTION: In a system environment convention violation detecting method for the client device, a mail client program read by the client device includes: a step for acquiring convention information comprising the convention to be satisfied by the system environment of the client device; a step for detecting whether the system environment of the client device satisfies the convention of the acquired convention information; and a step for performing a prescribed processing in response to the detection result.
