PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method, a communication system, a communication circuit, and a communication apparatus easily coping even with a change in the transmission characteristic of a transmission path so as to extend the degree of freedom in design even when the transmission characteristic of the transmission path is subject to a change due to the extension of the transmission path and the revision of a type of a material of the transmission path or the like in data transmission carried out between communication apparatuses such as gateway apparatuses configuring an in-vehicle network. SOLUTION: A first communication circuit 11 such as a connector provided to a first communication apparatus 10 transmits data for measurement used for measuring the transmission characteristic to a second communication apparatus 20 via a first transmission path 30. A second communication circuit 21 provided to the second communication apparatus 20 measures the transmission characteristic such as an attenuation characteristic in a communication path on the basis of the received data for measurement and requests revision on the amplification factor of the signal strength of transmitted data or the like on the basis of the measurement result.
