PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of concurrently processing a plurality of jobs at a high speed. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with: first and second buffer memories 21, 31 which can be accessed independently of each other and at the same time; and companding means 23, 33 exclusively belonging to the respective memories 21, 31. A control section 14 assigns the buffer memory used for processing to one plane (page) of image data in the case of performing the input processing of the image data from a scanner section 11 or the like or the output processing of the image data to a printer section 12 or the like, and controls the flow of the image data to be revisable for each image plane.
