<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noncontact three-dimensional measuring method and an apparatus capable of measuring the length, area, or volume of the whole or a specific section of various building etc. by simple operations through the use of a simple apparatus, having low apparatus costs with easy operations, and extremely effective for usage which does not require extra-high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: An object is photographed with a digital camera from a plurality of vertical locations. On the basis of points of measurement on the object in each image and differences in elevation in a plurality of camera stations, the lengths between the points of measurement, the area of a section surrounded with the points of measurement, and volume are determined. The digital camera is mounted to a universal head of a tripod. The universal head is vertically moved to perform photographing from a plurality of location. Information on each image and the heights of camera stations is inputted to a computer.
