<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup and an optical disk unit which realizes at least one of improvement in productivity or workability, or improvement in optical characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of light sources for emitting light beams having mutually different wavelengths, a coupling base for holding the light sources, an optical member held on the coupling base, and a light receiving element held on the coupling base are provided. An opening is provided in the coupling base, and the light sources and the optical member are held on the coupling base via the opening.
