<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apnea syndrome determining instrument surely determining the sleep apnea syndrome by a nonrestraint measuring method and a simple determination. <P>SOLUTION: This apnea syndrome determining instrument is provided with an apnea syndrome determining means nonrestraintly detecting a heartbeat signal with an air mat 2 or the like under the body of a subject 12 lying supine, computing a power spectral density of heartbeat fluctuations from a heartbeat interval signal based on the detected heartbeat signal, and determining the apnea syndrome based on a clear spectrum (peak) in a VLF band of the power spectral density. This instrument can easily obtain the heartbeat signal giving neither physical nor mental pain to the subject and surely determines the sleep apnea syndrome. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
