PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating container, which is provided with an outer packaging body that covers a cylindrical container body with a bottom and is manufactured to have no wrinkles or shrinkages, a fine appearance, and superior heat insulation capability. SOLUTION: The heat insulating container comprises the cylindrical container body 1 with the bottom, and the outer packaging body 2 having a cylindrical part 20 covering the outer peripheral wall 10 of the container body 1. The outer packaging container 2 is molded by making an outer packaging heat insulating sheet S, which consists of layers of an expanded resin sheet S1 and a heat shrinkable unexpanded resin sheet S2, into a cylindrical shape, enclosing a projecting mold 3 or the peripheral wall 10 of the container body 1 with the heat insulating sheet S, and heating the heat insulating sheet S to make it shrink. The unexpanded resin sheet S2 has a preset heat shrinking rate smaller than the expanded resin sheet S1 in one direction identical with the peripheral direction of the cylindrical part 20 and in another direction perpendicular to the one direction within a temperature range of 110 to 120°C when dipped in a glycerin bath having a given temperature for 10 seconds.
