The arm assembly (1) has a rocker arm part, e.g. a cardan shaft housing (2) and a rear axle transmission housing (3) connected via a pivot joint (6). This housing is supported via a strut (4) with an adjusting device to alter the length of the strut and the position of the housing relative to the arm. The device adjusting device has an actuator, which can be operated to adjust the strut length while traveling. The actuator is a hydraulic cylinder (9) and this forms part of the strut. One end of the cylinder is connected to the transmission housing. The actuator is operated by an electro-hydraulic control system with operating element for use by the driver. The control system operates the actuator dependent upon traveling speed, so that the motorcycle seat is lowered when the speed drops below a set level, and is raised when it rises above a top level.
