Apparatus for manipulation (comprising conveying and optionally sorting) and analysis of micro-objects (MO), especially biological cells or tissues (or their fragments) or biomolecules, or their associations. Apparatus for manipulation (comprising conveying and optionally sorting) and analysis of micro-objects (MO), especially biological cells or tissues (or their fragments) or biomolecules, or their associations comprises at least one microsystem (MS), constructed at least in part as a fluidic microsystem and/or microchip, especially biochip. In MS individual MO are selectable (on the basis of at least one electrical, (electro)magnetic, optical, (fluid) mechanical or chemical effect) from many MO, and then transferred to an examination region that is designed to apply at least one (bio)chemical, biological or molecular examination process to the selected MO. An independent claim is also included for a method for analyzing MO using the new apparatus.
