The present invention relates to an absorbent matrix useful in disposable absorbent articles, which is generally rectangular-shaped and comprises fibers of an absorbent material homogeneously mixed with particles of a superabsorbent material. Said matrix includes a front portion, a rear portion and a crotch portion, two transversal edges and two longitudinal edges, so that the smaller sides of the rectangle are in agreement with the transversal edges of the matrix, and the larger sides of the rectangle are in agreement with the longitudinal edges thereof, thereby the matrix comprising a zone of reception/distribution located at the front and crotch portion of the same, which covers from about 30% to about 60% of the total area of the matrix and comprises from about 400g to about 800g of absorbent fibers/m2 and a constant density of from about 0.16 gr/cm3 to about 0.2 gr/cm3. The invention further describes the disposable absorbent article comprising said matrix.
