A vacuum cleaner includes a tank (26) having a bottom (38) and an inlet (44) for receiving debris, a motor assembly (32) disposed adjacent to the tank, t he motor assembly adapted to draw debris into the tank through the inlet (44), a battery pack (34) disposed adjacent the bottom (38) of the tank (26), and a connection from the battery pack (34) to the motor assembly (32)that is adapted to carry current between the battery pack and the motor assembly. Th e battery pack (34) includes at least one battery and supplies power to the motor assembly (32).
