PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document retrieval apparatus for shortening a retrieval processing time. SOLUTION: The document retrieval apparatus is provided with: a syntax analyzing part 50 for analyzing a retrieval formula as a syntax tree; a module preparing part 52 for preparing two kinds of modules; a program preparing part 54 for preparing a document retrieval program by displacing each node of the syntax tree with each corresponding module; an executing part for executing a document retrieval program 62 until the predetermined number of retrieval results are acquired; and a DB group 42 constituted of a plurality of DB. In each DB, the document information of the document including a retrieval word associated with each other in the order of document ID is recorded. A document ID acquisition module 58 reads the DB, and acquires the predetermined document ID. A logical operation module 60 discriminates whether or not predetermined conditions are satisfied by the document ID inputted from a low order module, and when the discrimination result is positive, outputs it to a high order module.
