PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy saving compact cooling device for cooling a box structure independently of an outside air temperature. SOLUTION: The cooling device has an inside air duct 8 for trapping air in the box structure and returning it to the inside and an outside air duct 12 for trapping outside air and exhausting it to the outside, both ducts being independent. It comprises an inside air fan 6 for carrying air in the outside air duct 12, an outside air fan 10 for carrying air in the inside air duct 8, a heat exchange element 4 arranged at the crossing of both ducts for heat exchanging the sensible heat of the outside air with that of the inside air, and an auxiliary cooling device 5 containing a Peltier element 16 whose cooling plate 17 and radiating plate 18 are arranged in contact with the inside air duct 8 and with the outside air duct 12, respectively. Energy saving compact cooling is achieved by using the heat exchange element 4 when the outside air temperature is low or by using it with the auxiliary cooling device 5 when the outside air temperature is high.
