PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video audio reproducing apparatus for seamlessly reproducing a discontinuous stream in a pseudo way by decreasing a reproduction stop period of video audio to the utmost in the case of reproducing the discontinuous stream whose seamless reproduction is not warranted. SOLUTION: When a stream separation section 107 detects the discontinuity of time information between a preceding VOBU and a succeeding VOUB on the way of an MPEG stream read from a medium 100, the stream separation section 107 stops data write to elementary buffers 124, 128 and 131 until the reproduction of the succeeding VOBU stored in each of the elementary buffers by each of elementary decoders 123, 127 and 129 is all finished (ST703, ST704). When the reproduction of the preceding VOBU is finished, the stream separation section 107 changes a value of a system clock STC (ST 705) and restarts the data write of the VOBU next to the preceding VOMU and succeeding VOBUs to each elementary buffer.
