PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sustained release medicinal composition containing tamsulosin hydrochloride, having effectiveness equal to or more than that of oral sustained release formulations (the present formulations) containing tamsulosin hydrochloride supplied to medical suites, increasing a dose with suppressing harmful consequences such as adverse effects (e.g., orthostatic hypotension and the like) and giving no restriction in taking meals by request, and a method for dosing tamsulosin hydrochloride to reduce adverse effects accompanied by treatment or prevention based onα<SB>1</SB>receptor blocking action. SOLUTION: The sustained release medicinal composition contains tamsulosin or its pharmaceutically permissible salt and expresses≥0.4 ratio of the serum tamsulosin concentration (C<SB>min</SB>) at 24 hours after administration over the maximum serum tamsulosin concentration (C<SB>max</SB>) (C<SB>min</SB>/C<SB>max</SB>) after orally administering the formulation.
