<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus having a rotation transmitting system in which even in the event that a drive motor rotates reversely, transmission of the reverse rotation to a developing roller is prevented, thereby avoiding various troubles, and, further, unidirectional transmission can be exhibited with a simple structure and fewer components in a limited occupying space. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body that has a body drive gear 6 for obtaining rotation from the drive motor M, and an image forming unit 4 that has the developing roller 3. The image forming apparatus is provided with an idle gear mechanism comprising a developing roller drive gear 10 that rotates integrally with the developing roller 3, and also an input gear Gi and an output gear Go in the form of a pair that are provided for the rotation transmission system A from a receiving gear 7 to the developing roller drive gear 10.
