<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To moderately apply vibrato of which the certain degree has been always mechanically applied conventionally, in accordance with a singing voice. <P>SOLUTION: A pitch is detected from a singing voice signal. A period of vibrato is determined on the basis of the detected pitch, and vibrato is applied to the singing voice signal with this period. When the same sound continues for a certain time or longer in the singing voice signal, a vibrato trigger signal is generated to start application of vibrato. Though the depth of vibrato is first shallow and is made gradually deeper, a rate of deepening (vibrato EG) is determined on the basis of the pitch of the singing voice signal. The maximum depth (arrival point) of vibrato is determined on the basis of the sound volume.
