PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a head light lens from being damaged without unintended deterioration in a focusing property of a vehicular head light by light and ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: A high-pressure discharge lamp has a first end part (101) and a second end part (102) on an opposite side of a base (110) inside the base (110), and an end face of the end part (102) on the opposite side of the base (110) has a coating film (125) not letting in the light and the ultraviolet rays.
