PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate transfer of the preceding vehicle following travel control from low-speed to high-speed, or high-speed to low-speed. SOLUTION: The traveling speed area for the high-speed following travel control and the traveling speed area for the low-speed following travel control overlap each other, and if transfer to other following travel control is instructed when the subject vehicle traveling speed is not in the overlapped area under either following travel control, the other following travel control is reserved, and when the subject vehicle traveling speed is within the overlapped area, the other following travel control is automatically transferred. If the subject vehicle traveling speed or the preceding vehicle traveling speed is changed in the direction away from the speed area for the transferred following travel control, the reservation is canceled. If the preceding vehicle traveling speed is away from the speed area for the following travel control to which the preceding vehicle traveling speed is transferred, the transfer to the following travel control is suppressed taking into consideration the speed change of the preceding vehicle in the traveling speed threshold for the transfer to other following travel control.
