PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress vehicle noise and improve fuel consumption performance by adequately canceling an acceleration mode depending on a travelling condition of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission includes a primary pulley and a secondary pulley and executes variable speed change by changing a pulley groove width. When a normal speed change mode is switched to an acceleration mode by pushing an accelerator at a status point P1, a target primary rotational speed Np is set on the basis of an acceleration map. Then, when an actual primary rotational speed reaches to the target primary rotational speed Np3 through a status point P2, speed change control along a characteristic line TV3' of the acceleration map is executed. This speed change control is executed until a hold time Th passes, and the acceleration mode is canceled after the hold time Th passes. Thereby, a rotation increase of the target primary rotational speed Np is suppressed, and the vehicle noise is suppressed and the fuel consumption performance is improved.
