PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a fiber reinforced metal matrix composite article by metal-coated fiber helical bodies and metal helical bodies. SOLUTION: Fiber performs 20 are placed in an annular channel 80 in a cassette 70. The cassette 70 and the first metal component are arranged such that the annular channel 80 in the cassette 70 is coaxial with and faces the annular groove in the first metal component. Then, heat and pressure is applied so as to consolidate the fiber preforms 20 and to diffusion bond the filler metal, the first metal component and the second metal component to form a unitary composite component.
