PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device of high quality without deterioration of a light-emitting layer, of which, a cathode can be surely divided without causing cost increase. SOLUTION: On the organic EL device 21A having a light-emitting layer 29 made of organic EL on a light-emitting area 27 partitioned by banks 26 formed into a lattice-shape, and a cathode 30 formed by turning a cathode material 30a into a film on the upper surface of the light-emitting layer 29, the bank 26 is composed of bank walls 31 facing each other, and an opening 32 formed between the bank walls 31 is formed such that a lower side is wider than an upper side.
