PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and method of a storage device for performing appropriate distribution not obstructing allocation of cache memories to other storage devices when cache memories are allocated by every storage device. SOLUTION: When quantity of write-after data becomes equal to or more than a threshold, allocation limit by every disk device (25) is set. When there is a data writing start instruction from a CPU (20) which requests the write-after data quantity equal to or more than the allocation limit, the instruction is kept waiting until the write-after data becomes under the allocation limit. As a result, allocation quantity to a certain disk device becomes excessive and allocation quantity to other disk devices does not become too little. Consequently, the appropriate distribution not obstructing allocation of the cache memories to other disk devices can be performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
