PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a display panel with which the display panel is made thin and productivity thereof is increased by accurately forming scribe grooves for partition even when the display panel is large-sized and uses thinned substrates. SOLUTION: A layer pattern 10, on which a region 7a to be partitioned of a panel 7 is exposed, is formed at least on a principal surface of the panel 7 constructed by bonding a TFT substrate 1 (a first substrate) and a counter substrate 2 (a second substrate) to each other. Next, parting grooves 11 are formed on the panel 7 by etching from above the layer pattern 10. In this case, the layer pattern is also simultaneously etching removed. Furthermore, the panel 7 is made to become a thin film by etching the panel 7. Subsequently, the panel 7 is partitioned along the parting grooves 11 into respective display panel parts 1a.
