PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod lens and a rod lens array with a filter function without causing deterioration in resolution, and to provide the rod lens array which is excellent in color property and resolution even in use of the rod lens where chromatic aberration exists in some extent. SOLUTION: Regarding the rod lens whose refractive index continuously reduces from the center axis toward the outer circumference, the rod lens is provided with a 1st light absorbing layer containing light absorber for absorbing light of each wavelength, R, G, B in a part within a prescribed extent of≤100μm from the position on the outer circumferential surface to the center axis, and a 2nd light absorbing layer containing light absorber for absorbing light of one or two wavelengths out of wavelengths R, G and B in an area including the center axis.
