PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission capable of keeping constant the ratio of a spin loss torque to an input torque without relying upon torque, reducing the over-pressing of rollers against a cam face, and having a loading cam pressing device with a high torque transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: This toroidal type continuously variable transmission comprises the loading cam pressing device 12 installed between an input shaft 1 and an input side disk 2 and pressing the input side disk 2 to an output side disk 4. The pressing device 12 comprises a cam plate 13 rotating together with the input shaft 1 and the plurality of rollers 50 held by a retainer 14 between the cam face 16 of the cam plate 13 and the cam face 17 of the input side disk 2 formed on the outer surface thereof. On the rollers 50, the surfaces 50a thereof opposed to the cam faces 16 and 17 are formed in a projected curved surface shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
