PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the close contact property of a sliding surface of a fixed side valve plate and a movable side valve plate of a rotary valve even when a rotor of a rotating fluid machine is put in oscillating motion. SOLUTION: The rotary valve 71 for controlling supply/discharge of high-temperature and high pressure steam to/from an expansion chamber of an expander is constituted by bringing the fixed side valve plate 73 supported to float on the casing side, and a movable side valve plate 74 supported to float on the rotor side, into contact at the sliding surface 77. The oscillating motion of the rotor is thereby absorbed effectively by the swing of both valve plates 73, 74, and the close contact property of the sliding surface 77 is secured to minimize a leakage of the high-temperature and high-pressure steam. Further, a steam passage P3r on the movable side valve plate 74 side and a steam passage P3f on the rotor side are put in airtight communication. The leakage of the high-temperature and high-pressure steam from a communicating part of both steam passages P3r, P3f can thereby be prevented while allowing the swing of the movable side valve plate 74.
