PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross-flowing type membrane filtering apparatus permitting effective utilization of the energy of bubbles. SOLUTION: Two filtering membrane modules 10a and 10b having tubular membrane units 11a and 11b, or filtering membrane units consisting of a group of filtering membranes housed in a housing container and filtering a to-be-treated liquid to give a filtrate, and bubble-supplying devices 12a and 12b supplying the bubbles toward the groups of the membranes are connected at both the upper and the lower ends to form connected portions. A bubble relief outlet 17 is arranged at the upper-end connected portion 15, and an inlet and outlet 16 for the liquid to be treated is disposed at the lower-end connected portion 14. the liquid to be treated is circulated by supplying bubbles alternately from the devices 12a and 12b to the groups of the membranes so as to yield a filtrate.
